Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson, was born in Paris France of British parents Jacqueline Luesby Watson and Chris Watson both of whom were lawyers. When she was five, she moved from London to Oxfordshire to attend The Dragon School. Emma was aspired to become a professional actor since she was at the age of six. She attended Stagecoach Theatre Arts in Oxford which is an acting academy that offers part-time classes. By the time she turned 10, she had already taken part in numerous Stagecoach productions and plays. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) the film version of J.K. Rowling's bestselling British book was cast in the year 1999. Emma was initially discovered as a casting representative by her Oxford teacher of drama. David Heyman informed Emma, Daniel Radcliffe, and Rupert Grint after 8 auditions. They were chosen to play the 3 leads Hermione Gringer Harry Potter Ron Weasley. Emma's first appearance in a film was with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in 2001. It also was the most successful film of 2001. The opening weekend and day the sales were record breaking. The film was praised by experts, and also by the performances of its three new stars. The Daily Telegraph, a widely read British paper, praised her for her outstanding performance. Then Emma was nominated for five prizes for her work in the film winning her the Young Artist Award for Leading Actress Young in the Feature Film.
